Important TL tested Pre-Columbian Calima pottery mask from Cauca Valley, Colombia, ca. 100 BCE-400 CE. Depicted with ear & nose ornaments, eyes closed, incised tattoo decorations, including 4 animals on the chin section. Perforated on the top and bottom for suspension. Such large masks from the Cauca Valley are very rare.
The piece has been TL tested by Ralf Kotalla in Germany.
11 1/2” in height x 11-3/4” wide.
One ear reattached with restoration over the break line, otherwise intact.
