Pre-Columbian Moche Phase II shaman vessel from the North Coast of Peru, ca. 100 BCE-200 CE. A spouted pottery vessel depicting a shaman with painted circular, and linear patterns in red with cream ground. The figure was perforated through the hand which most likely held a rattle, and a Kero in the other. The Moche thrived on the narrow arid strip of fertile land between the Andes and the Ocean. Some burnishing to the painted features. Intact with no chipping evidence, a repaired stress crack on the spout. Ex. Axel K. Traugott , Arte Xibalba, Fl. 7 1/2" in height.
