Pre-Columbian Chavin pottery bird vessel from Peru (Ecuador border), ca. 1500 BCE. A stirrup pottery vessel with a bird incorporated to the top of the vessel. incised wings and tail. Much older example than classic Chavin examples. Minor chip to the rim of the stirrup otherwise intact and in excellent condition. Manganese deposits on the surface attesting to its age. 9" in height. Ex. Private NY collection.
