This finely crafted Pre-Columbian Nazca pottery vessel, dating to the Early Intermediate Period (200–600 CE), exemplifies the sophistication of ancient Nazca ceramic artistry. The vessel is decorated with a striking geometric design, featuring elongated diamond shapes outlined in bold black lines, filled with alternating shades of earthy red, deep brown, and cream. The repeated pattern creates a visually dynamic and harmonious composition, reflecting the Nazca culture’s emphasis on symmetry and precision in their artistic traditions.

The surface of the vessel is coated with a polished slip, enhancing the vibrancy of the pigments and ensuring its preservation over centuries. Such vessels were often used for ceremonial or utilitarian purposes, embodying both aesthetic and functional qualities. The minimalist yet bold design highlights the Nazca’s mastery of abstraction and their ability to infuse geometric motifs with cultural and symbolic significance. Ex. Private Florida collection, 1970's. TL tested by Ralf Kotalla in Germany. 6 1/8" in diameter x 4" in height.
