Scarce Pre-Columbian Colima shaman drummer figure

A scarce Pre-Columbian Colima shaman drummer figure from the ancient cultures of West Mexico, dating between 300 BCE and 300 CE. The ceramic figure is modeled in a seated position, with the shaman playing a cylindrical drum. The figure's body and drum are painted in a mix of reddish-brown and black hues, with evidence of mineral deposits that enhance its ancient, aged appearance.

The shaman wears a distinctive headdress or crest, often associated with spiritual or ceremonial status in Colima culture. His facial features are prominently stylized, with a long nose, deeply incised eyes with remains of black paint decorated around the eyes. The figure holds the drum with both hands, and the drum is incised with an intricate design of a bird motif, possibly symbolizing a connection to the spiritual realm or nature, as birds were often seen as messengers in Mesoamerican cultures.
