Rare Pre-Columbian Sican/Lambayeque silver sewing box from Peru, ca. 1200-1400 CE. The sewing box features scenes of birds penetrating the sea for fish, each with a feather crown, probably the family or workshop emblem. The characters with staffs on the sides indicate that they belong to an elite character, the chakana symbols with bird tails insist on the general theme of the sewing kit, which is that of abundance. 6-1/8" in length x 2-3/4" in height x 2-1/2" wide
