An exceptional Pre-Columbian ceramic bowl from the Nariño culture of southern Colombia, dating from approximately 800–1500 CE. This hand-formed terracotta vessel features a sharply defined pedestal base and flaring walls, decorated internally with a masterful resist-slip painting technique.

The interior is divided into quadrants by bold red bands forming an “X” layout, each triangular panel filled with abstract geometric motifs and anthropomorphic figures. Two human-like forms appear on one quadrant, rendered in simplified, symbolic style, possibly indicating ritual or mythological significance. The remaining fields are filled with stylized elements resembling stars, plants, or ceremonial patterns.

Painted in iron-rich red and cream-colored slips over a burnished clay surface, the decoration is well-preserved with striking visual contrast. The form and design exemplify the technical and symbolic sophistication of Nariño ceramicists.
