his elegant Pre-Columbian Nazca pottery vessel, dating to the Early Intermediate Period (200–600 CE), is a fine example of the artistic refinement and cultural symbolism of the Nazca civilization. The vessel’s flaring shape is adorned with a decorative register of floral motifs encircling the rim, rendered in a deep red slip. Below, horizontal red bands accentuate the vessel’s form, contrasting beautifully with the light cream-colored background of the base.

The minimalistic yet deliberate design reflects the Nazca’s appreciation for balance and harmony in their artwork. Such vessels were likely used in ceremonial or domestic contexts, showcasing the artistic sophistication of the Nazca artisans and their ability to integrate decorative elements with functional forms. Ex. Private Hollywood, Fl. collection, acquired in the 70's. 6 1/4" in diameter x 4" in height.
