This captivating Pre-Columbian Nazca pottery vessel, crafted during the Early Intermediate Period (200–600 CE), displays the Nazca culture’s distinctive polychrome artistry and symbolic design. The vessel features a bold anthropomorphic motif, possibly representing a deity, shaman, or mythical figure, rendered in vibrant tones of red, black, cream, and yellow. The figure’s expressive face, highlighted by large circular eyes and intricate details, dominates the vessel’s surface and is framed by abstract geometric elements, adding visual complexity.

The flared form and polished finish of the vessel accentuate its decorative appeal, showcasing the technical and artistic prowess of the Nazca potters. Such vessels were often used in ceremonial contexts, symbolizing spiritual beliefs and the interplay between humans and the divine. 4 3/4" in diameter x 3 1/2" in height. Ex. Private Florida collection, 1970's. No repairs or restoration.
