Description

Western Semitic Iron Age II Scaraboid Stamp Seal with Hunting Scene
Iron Age II, ca. 930–586 BC

An ancient Western Semitic scaraboid stamp seal carved with a detailed hunting scene. The engraved face depicts a hunter accompanied by a hunting dog, arranged within divided registers. The reverse is smoothly rounded and undecorated, characteristic of the scaraboid form rather than a fully modeled scarab.

The seal displays reddish-brown coloration with areas of surface encrustation and green mineral deposits. The hunting imagery provides an interesting example of the animal and human iconography employed on Levantine seals during the Iron Age.
