Ancient Roman Glass Cosmetic Juglet

A finely blown ancient Roman cosmetic juglet from the Holy Land, dating to the 1st–3rd century CE. This elegant vessel features a tall, elongated ribbed body with a gently tapering base, a flared funnel-shaped rim, and a gracefully applied strap handle extending from the shoulder to the rim. Delicate thread-glass decoration encircles the neck, adding refinement to this classic Roman form.

The vessel displays spectacular iridescent weathering in shimmering shades of silver, blue, green, and gold, created naturally through nearly two millennia of burial. The ribbed body remains crisp and well-defined, while attractive mineral encrustation and luminous patina enhance its visual appeal, making it a superb display piece for collectors of ancient Roman glass.

Juglets of this type were commonly used to hold perfumes, scented oils, cosmetics, and precious ointments, reflecting the refined tastes and daily rituals of the Roman world.
