An impressive and large ceramic figure depicting a Huastec ballplayer, standing with elongated proportions and wearing a tall cylindrical headdress. The figure features prominent earspools and a chest pectoral, likely representing protective or ceremonial attire associated with the Mesoamerican ballgame.
Huastec figures are recognized for their refined modeling and distinctive facial features, shown here with a calm, slightly open-mouthed expression. The imposing headdress and adornments suggest status and ritual importance, possibly linked to elite participation in ceremonial ballgame traditions.
Surface displays strong age with mineral deposits, encrustation, and weathering consistent with long-term burial. Visible repair to the headdress.
Height: 11 1/2 in.
