Monumental Chancay Pottery Female Figure

An impressive and unusually large Chancay pottery figure depicting a standing female with raised arms. The figure displays the distinctive stylized aesthetic associated with Chancay ceramic sculpture, with an elongated body, broad flattened head, projecting ears, and an expressive open mouth.
The face and body retain extensive painted decoration in reddish-brown pigment over a cream-colored ground. Particularly notable are the crosshatched geometric designs across the forehead, painted facial markings, decorated ears, and crossed bands extending across the chest. Additional geometric motifs remain visible on the lower legs. The applied breasts identify the figure as female.
The monumental scale and commanding frontal pose give the figure a particularly strong sculptural presence. Presented on a custom-fitted metal display stand.
