A large and rare Colima blade fashioned from mahogany obsidian, distinguished by its rich reddish-brown coloration and dramatic black mottling. The elongated blade narrows into a sculptural handle terminating in a stylized dog’s head, with a projecting muzzle and raised ear defining its distinctive silhouette.

Overlapping flake scars catch the light across both faces, highlighting the careful workmanship and natural luster of the volcanic glass. Its substantial scale and elaborate form suggest a ceremonial or prestige function, although its precise original use remains unknown.

Presented on a custom display stand with metal supports and a wooden base, designed to showcase both the blade’s sculptural profile and the striking colors of the obsidian.
