Pre-Columbian Costa Rican Greenstone Axe God
A carved greenstone figure featuring a stylized head above an elongated, axe-shaped body. The face displays deeply recessed circular eyes, a broad projecting mouth, and a banded headdress with a central vertical ridge. Bent arms frame the torso, with carefully incised fingers meeting across the abdomen. The lower body extends into a broad blade with a gently rounded edge, while a pronounced longitudinal ridge runs down the reverse. The pale gray-green stone exhibits dark mineral inclusions and mottled surface coloration.
