A group of ancient Egyptian pottery ushabtis with modeled features and surviving black painted details. The illustrated example wears a long wig, with arms held across the torso and a vertical hieroglyphic inscription down the front. Its pale surface shows wear, cracking, and small losses.
The supplied translation identifies the owner as “The illuminated one, Rwjtj,” a priest of the Temple of Amun-Re, with the name rendered phonetically as “roo-ee-tee.”
Provenance: Purchased from J. Wayne, Nevada, who reported that the group came from a Utah collection assembled from estate sources.
