Pre-Columbian Nazca pottery bowl, dating to the Early Intermediate Period (200–600 CE), is an exquisite example of Nazca ceramic artistry and design. The flaring bowl features a vibrant polychrome decoration, with vertical stripes in red, cream, and orange encircling the body, emphasizing the Nazca's mastery of geometric and symmetrical motifs. The upper rim is adorned with a decorative band of leaf-like patterns, bordered by painted lines that create a harmonious and balanced composition. The vessel's polished surface enhances the vividness of the pigments, which remain remarkably well-preserved. Bowls such as this were likely used in ceremonial or ritual contexts, serving as containers for offerings or as functional yet highly decorative objects within Nazca society. 6 1/4" in diameter x 3 3/4" in height. Ex. Private Florida collection, 1970's.
