Ancient Egyptian Painted Funerary Textile Fragment
Late Period, ca. 664–332 BCE

Beautiful painted linen funerary textile fragment depicting a winged scarab beneath the solar disk. The scarab represented Khepri, the rising sun and the daily cycle of rebirth, while its outstretched wings symbolized divine protection. Such textiles adorned mummies and funerary equipment, helping ensure the deceased's safe journey into the afterlife.

The fragment preserves vibrant blue, red, yellow, black, and cream pigments, showcasing the refined artistry of Late Period Egyptian funerary workshops. An excellent display piece with strong iconography and surviving original color.
