Pre-Columbian Zapotec Blackware Spouted Vessel
Monte Albán, Oaxaca, Mexico, ca. 300 BCE–700 CE

An elegant Zapotec blackware vessel from the famed ceremonial center of Monte Albán in Oaxaca. The vessel features a finely burnished globular body, tall flaring neck, and distinctive bridge-form handle connecting to the spout. Incised flowing linear motifs encircle the shoulder, reflecting the refined ceramic traditions developed by Zapotec artisans over centuries.

The dark polished surface exhibits ancient wear, mineral deposits, and areas of encrustation consistent with long-term burial and age. Both sculptural and functional in form, this vessel is an excellent example of classic Zapotec blackware and displays beautifully from every angle.
