Description
A genuine ancient Roman ceramic oil lamp decorated with spiral and circular motifs around the shoulder. The lamp features a wide central filling hole, rounded body, and forward nozzle where the wick would have been placed. Traces of ancient use and mineral deposits remain across the surface.
This example comes with noted provenance, originally acquired from a private New York estate and sold through Roland Auctions, New York. Lamps of this form were used throughout the Roman world for household lighting and are an iconic symbol of daily life in antiquity.
