Description

Roman Imperial silver antoninianus struck under Emperor Gordian III at Rome, circa 243–244 AD. The obverse features a radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian III facing right with the legend IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG.
The reverse depicts Fortuna seated left, holding a rudder set on the ground in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, with a wheel beneath the seat. Legend reads FORT REDVX, symbolizing safe return and divine guidance.
Well-centered example with clear devices and attractive ancient toning.
